This was a solo project to poster based off a movement and picking our famous designer’s work from that timeline that’ll inspire us to make ours. I am a fan of the postmodernism with the designer Neville Brody specifically catching my eye with his works. His love for typography, and creation of visual and architectural elements made me get inspirations from his previous works for this project.
Design Process & Rationale
The design process involved in this project ranged from, using rich, flat colors (black, red, and gray) and shapes along with altered, slanting axes, and diagonal lines in forms of mazes. To create a sense of visual hierarchy, shapes in forms of mazes were selected to depict the complexity of the character Deadpool along with the colors of the mask as the central color of each element In the poster. To show the confident and strong side of Deadpool I selected a simple Helvetica along with lines in between texts that were selected to also imitate previous works of Neville Brody. All the components in my present revise came to create this sense of further awareness and passion towards the character Deadpool.
I learned numerous deal on visual and graphic communication, typeface, graphic design and visual hierarchy from this project. The research I had to do for the views of art movements in history along with a further perspective on postmodernism and how this influenced me to be a Graphic Design as well.
