Week five’s participation activity tasked to look through the analytics for my site via Google analytics. My previous experience with google analytics was only when I created one for my brand but never got around to learning how the software works until I had to for this week’s PUB 201 participation activity.
Looking over the analytics for my site made me realize that visitors on my site – to my surprise since I only put on my Instagram bio on January 24th but within 2 weeks, I have 8 users and 6 new users totaling 11 sessions with a bounce rate of 54.55% and a duration of 2m 49s. I realized that my bounce rate is that high because before I had my brand’s website in my bio which I replaced 2 weeks ago with the link to my portfolio.
81% of the population of people visiting my site are from Canada while 9.1% for both the United States and the United Kingdom respectively. And 54.5% access my site via desktop and 45.5% via mobile which is a close and shows that people are accessing from both devices and I have to finish some of the drafts for projects I’m either currently working on or just haven’t uploaded.
Upon completion of the analysis, I learned a lot about analyzing data from a site as I hadn’t done so before especially for the brand that I started and now I can apply these skills. I also have set small goals to put projects I have completed helping hopefully reduce the bounce rates as I feel that people get confused on the uncompleted projects and become disinterested and disappointed I replaced the link to brand’s site (possibly) and have to leave or go to my brand’s Instagram page as one can only put one link at a time on their bio in Instagram.
